Luna Cutie Mark Embroidery Design

Someone requested 6 different embroidered MLP:FiM shirts embroidered with different cutie marks right before I was injured.  I already had designs for 5 of them, but I didn't have one for Luna.  Luna's cutie mark will not really work as it is in the show due to the shape, so I modified it slightly to look good from pretty much any angle.  The design is actually based on a Luna cutie mark pin by PinFilly. (Who makes awesome metal MLP:FiM pins for only a few bucks)

Patch version, which looks identical to the regular version.
You can download the embroidery file here.

Colors:
Dark purple - 2209 (background)
white - 2149 (moon)

Princess Luna Pillow

I was bored, so I made a Filly Luna raising the moon pillow.  The design was embroidered first, then the pillow was made.  I made the pillow out of broadcloth at a 16" by 20" cut size. It took about 3 hours to make, including the embroidery.

Materials & Cost:
Broadcloth - $6
Embroidery materials - $9 (stabilizers & thread)
Overlock thread - $3
Fill - $3
Fusable material - $1 (close the final seam)

The embroidery design can be downloaded here.

Egophiliac's Comic of Luna & Celestia

This is an embroidery design of Egophiliac's comic that can be found here.  Sorry for not posing more often, but this took a boatload of time to make and sew.

All designs are made for a 100mm by 100mm hoop, though the bottom middle panel (alfalfa monster) is best sewn on a 4 by 6 3/4" hoop as it is split in the center.  If you have a Brother machine with a 4 by 4" field, there is a 4" by 6 3/4" hoop with multiple mount points that can be used to simplify the hooping process. If you have the 4 by 6 3/4" hoop, then there are a total of 9 hoops required.  start at the bottom right (part 01) to make lining up the panels the easiest. Work in a zigzag pattern (bottom row right to left, then left to right, then right to left for the last panel). Each separate hoop has a colors.txt file that will tell you what order to use the thread colors.  I didn't list them here for brevity's sake.

The total stitch count is 123,183 with slightly over 1800 yards of thread between 23 different thread colors.  Total design time was 44 hours, 22 minutes with sewing time adding an additional 9 hours and 6 minutes.  It cost just over $55 in materials to make, but oh so worth it.

Celestia the Alfalfa Monster

I saw a comic of Celestia and Luna that was just too cute for words a while ago and I really wanted to do a design of Celestia the Alfalfa Monster.  Sadly, the resolution was just too low, and my machine was just too small to make a design.   The artist made a bigger image of that panel, and I had a new hoop overnighted, so now I can do that design.  The hoop is 4 by 6 3/4", but my machine can stil only do 4" by 4".  The larger hoop makes it so you can do 2 designs with a minimal seam.

I had a bear of a time with the text, and tried a bunch of different settings.  Sadly, nothing looks good, while still fitting in the hoop with the design itself.  That's why the text is crazy hard to read.

There are 3 embroidery files.  One is the complete design for a hoop that is 4" by 6 3/4" or larger.  The other 2 designs are the split of Celestia and Luna for the Brother 4" by 6 3/4" hoop.  You can download the files here.

Luna Raising the Moon as a Filly

I saw this comic and wanted to do a pattern based on it.  I started with the sequence of 5 'panels' of Filly Luna raising the moon.  Here's a render of the panels and the test of the first 4 panels.  The full size is 4.5" tall by 10 inches wide, so I needed to do 5 different designs.

All 5 designs can be downloaded here.

Raise the Sun and Moon Embroidery

I mentioned earlier that I got the idea to do MLP embroidery designs during the Cutie Mark Chronicles episode when Princess Celestia raised the Sun. The outline of Celestia over the sun in 3 colors looked awesome, but I wasn't able to do it until now.

There are 2 different designs available.  The first, non-overlapped one, does not have much overlap in the thread colors.  This will work fine on 99% of fabric, and save some thread.  I also made an overlapped design, where the white for the sun is a complete circle without a cutout under Celestia's tail or body. I think it looks slightly better overlapped when on a low thread count fabric such as a bar towel.  Here's a pic of the the non-overlapped one during a test run on a bar towel.  You can see the gap where Celestia will end up going in on the next thread color.

We can't just stop there with Trollestia.  I haven't done a Luna design yet, and this seemed like the perfect time for it.  So here's a design of Luna raising the Moon in the same style based upon this drawling.  Both are for a 100 by 100mm hoop.

The Luna embroidery design is here. Here's both on a pair of bar towels.  Awesome overload.

Also, thanks for linking to this blog Equestria Daily.  Hopefully lots of ponys will be able to use the designs I put up here to put MLP on everything in their house.  I can probably make a few for people who ask, but I can't do a ton. If you want something embroidered with a design I have up here, just let me know and I'll help.
