Rarity Outline Embroidery

A pony asked me to make a Rarity design based upon a drawing, so here it is.  It definitely doesn't look like a MLP pony, but if somepony is familiar with Rarity, they will get it very quick.  The design is made for a 100mm by 100mm hoop.
As always, you can download it here.

Filly Octavia Embroidery Pattern

Some designs just too cute to be made, this is one of those designs.  Filly Octavia is just incredibly cute, and I had to make a design of her.  The difficult part was getting the colors just right, as Octavia is mostly made of different shades of gray.  After testing a bunch of colors, I found the below colors to be the best match.  Please use the numerical values, as some formats and machines don't interpret color names the same way.  Even the software render isn't doing the design justice compared to the actual.

Download the embroidery file here.  Be careful, and don't look a filly in the eye too long or your heart may melt.

Colors in order:
Pewter - 2306 (hair)
Light Gray - 2300 (body)
Black - 2150 (eyes)
Pink - 2179 (bow tie)
White - 2149 (collar and eyes)
Light blue - 2143 (collar rim). I recommend that existing jumps are trimmed at this point.
Purple - 2081 (eye iris)
Magenta 2041 (bow tie outline)
Dark Gray - 2296 (body outline)
Black - 2150 (body outline)
Silver - 2138 (hair highlights)

Pinkie Pie Business Design

Like some other ponys, I am working on the MLP achievements that Equestria Daily put together.  One of them is wearing a MLP shirt to work.  I have a very strict work environment which limits what I can wear.  I need to wear a dress shirt and pants, which precludes any existing design for MLP that I am aware of.  The only choice was to make a design.  I haven't done a design of Pinkie Pie yet, so that answers which character was going ont he shirt.  And why make 1 when you can make three?

Design #1 is an outline of Pinkie Pie over the text MLP:FiM.  The text is also made out of columns, which makes it slightly thinner than keeping the thread going in the same direction.

Design #2 is the same as #1, except the text is built with the thread always going horizontal, and the inside loops in Pinkie's hair are not looped all the way around.

Design #3 is arranged with the entire design in a horizontal plane instead of a stacked design.  I also added an under and overline for an additional logo type feeling.

I tested all 3 on some scrap yellow felt that I had laying around to see which one I liked best.  Unfortunately, I can't choose because I like them all.  I need to pick one though, so let me know which one you think is best in the comments, and I will make & wear the one that gets the most votes on Tuesday.

Raise the Sun and Moon Embroidery

I mentioned earlier that I got the idea to do MLP embroidery designs during the Cutie Mark Chronicles episode when Princess Celestia raised the Sun. The outline of Celestia over the sun in 3 colors looked awesome, but I wasn't able to do it until now.

There are 2 different designs available.  The first, non-overlapped one, does not have much overlap in the thread colors.  This will work fine on 99% of fabric, and save some thread.  I also made an overlapped design, where the white for the sun is a complete circle without a cutout under Celestia's tail or body. I think it looks slightly better overlapped when on a low thread count fabric such as a bar towel.  Here's a pic of the the non-overlapped one during a test run on a bar towel.  You can see the gap where Celestia will end up going in on the next thread color.

We can't just stop there with Trollestia.  I haven't done a Luna design yet, and this seemed like the perfect time for it.  So here's a design of Luna raising the Moon in the same style based upon this drawling.  Both are for a 100 by 100mm hoop.

The Luna embroidery design is here. Here's both on a pair of bar towels.  Awesome overload.

Also, thanks for linking to this blog Equestria Daily.  Hopefully lots of ponys will be able to use the designs I put up here to put MLP on everything in their house.  I can probably make a few for people who ask, but I can't do a ton. If you want something embroidered with a design I have up here, just let me know and I'll help.

Celestia's Cutie Mark

A brony asked for Celestia's cutie mark.  Personally, I think Luna needs more love than Trollestia, but I got my original idea to do these embroidery designs during the 'Cutie Mark Chronicles' episode with the outline of Celestia over the sun.  So continuing on in the list of Cutie Marks is Princess Celestia's cutie mark in 100mm by 100mm, 3 colors.

Colors:
Burnt orange - 2007 (outside)
Orange - 2022 (middle ring)
yellow - 2005 (center)

If you want to become a princess, you will need to download the design.

Cutie Mark Crusaders Patch

Not exactly a cutie mark, but for the cutie mark crusaders, this is as close as you can get.  Design is 100mm by 100mm in 3 colors and about 17,000 stitches.

Sweetie Belle will soon download it and make a glue on patch.  I can just see it now.

Gummy Embroidery Design

Here's my take on the lacoste style emblem, except using Gummy.  There are 2 sizes of the design, one 2 inches by 4 inches and one 1 inch tall by 2 inches wide.   they have 10,000 and 5000 stitches respectively.

Download link for both designs is here.

Rainbow Dash Outline on a Cloud

Believe it or not, I haven't done a huge amount of embroidery.  Having said that though, I have tended to choose the things that end up being very hard, like very stretchy fabric, ribbons and such.  Having done that,  I have learned some things that work and some that don't.  One of the things that doesn't work too well is a solid design on something with a large nap, like a towel.  Outlines and text work much better on something with a large nap.

To that end, I wanted to enable some folks to make their bathrooms 20% cooler with a Rainbow Dash design for said room.  That means an outline so it will work on something very nappy, like a hand towel.  On top of that, I felt a napping Rainbow Dash on a nappy towel would also be 20% cuter.  Since Rainbow Dash owns the sky and clouds, guess where I think she should be napping?

Hand towels in my house are now 20% cooler.  Make them 20% cooler in your house too with the download.

Rainbow Dash Cutie Mark Version 2

Here is an updated design for Rainbow Dash's cutie mark.  The cloud is made of paint spatters, and turned out quite a bit better than I expected.  The design is based upon a graphic on ponychan, which appears to be from a fan t-shirt site here.  Here's the design for a 100mm by 100mm hoop.

Embroidery Design of Applejack

Applejack is in the house.  Or on the thread anyways.  Here is a 100mm by 100mm embroidery design of Applejack looking good. Applejack has quite a few colors actually.  The outlines on MLP characters are actually the most time consuming part of making these designs; taking up about 3/4ths of the total design time.  Applejack's hair outlines took quite a long time to get just right.

Embroidery Design of Derpy Hooves

Next up on the list of 100mm by 100mm embroidery designs is Derpy Hooves from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.  Derpy has quite a following out there, so a design of Derpy was absolutely required.  This design is based upon the front page design of Derpy Mail, which I thought captured the essence of Derpy very well.   This design has 36,984 stitches which is the highest stitch count design I have done yet.  Even with the large count, it only took about 4 hours to make.

Rainbow Dash's Cutie Mark

Today, we have a 2 for 1 special on Rainbow Dash's cutie mark.  As usual, these are for Brother machines with a hoop size of at least 100mm by 100mm.  So far, these 2 were the easiest to make requiring only about 1.5 hours of design time each.  The top one would be for the right flank, while the bottom one is (more or less) direction agnostic.

Remember to flip cutie marks depending on view side (left or right) if you want to match the show as close as possible.

Embroidery Design of Rainbow Dash

Sadly, Hasbro hasn't yet figured out that the audience of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is older than they expect.  This leaves gaps in merchandising that need to be filled. One of the things that I see talked about pretty often is making shirts and such with content from the show.

To that end, I got a request to make an embroidery design of Rainbow Dash with wings deployed.  Here is the first attempt. Not too shabby if I do say so myself.  It does use 10 colors though and has just over 15,500 stitches for a 100mm by 100mm loop.
